Get your free estimateLinear Hinge & Roller Replacement: The Las Vegas Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Linear-compatible hinge and roller replacements across Las Vegas, with most jobs running $145 to $385 installed depending on whether it’s a single roller swap or a full hinge set on a heavy slide gate. Same-day service is available most weekdays in Las Vegas, and we carry the most common Linear sizes on the truck. The usual discovery goes like this: the gate starts dragging, the motor strains harder than it did last month, and then one afternoon it either won’t close all the way or makes a grinding sound you can hear from the kitchen. That’s the hinge or roller telling you it’s done.
Here’s what to know before you call, what it costs, and how we handle it in Las Vegas specifically.
Which Linear Models This Applies To
Linear’s slide gate hardware shows up most often on the SL and SLR series slide operators (SL-1, SLR, and the heavy-duty SLD), as well as on older Linear G and HD gate frames that builders installed across Las Vegas in the 2000s and 2010s. If you have a Linear swing gate, the hinge side is usually a welded barrel hinge rather than a roller assembly, and that’s a different repair path than what this page covers.
The quickest way to identify what you have is to look at the gate frame itself, not the operator. A slide gate runs on two or more steel rollers mounted to a concrete pad, and the top of the gate is held upright by a guide roller or a pair of anti-lift brackets. If the bottom roller has a flat spot or the wheel is visibly canted to one side, that roller is done. We match by measuring the wheel diameter (most Linear-compatible rollers are 4 or 6 inches), the axle size, and the bracket bolt pattern. Aftermarket rollers from brands like SureClose and US Gate Supply fit Linear frames well and often outlast the original parts, but the OEM measurement has to be right or the gate will ride crooked from day one. We carry both OEM Linear parts and quality equivalents, and we’ll tell you which one makes sense for your gate rather than defaulting to the pricier box.
One Las Vegas-specific gotcha: the caliche-heavy soil in parts of Summerlin and the northwest valley shifts concrete pads more than people expect. A roller that was perfectly level when the gate was installed two years ago may now be carrying three times its share of the gate’s weight because the pad moved. We check pad level on every roller replacement, not just the roller.

Signs Your Linear Hinge & Roller Replacement Is Failing
- The gate slows down in the last two feet of travel. The roller has worn into an oval or flat-spotted, and the motor has to work harder to get the gate over the flat spot. You’ll often hear the operator’s chain or belt chirp as it strains.
- A scraping or metal-on-metal sound that comes and goes. The roller bearing is dry and starting to seize. A seized roller doesn’t roll; it slides against the track, and it files the track flat a little more every day.
- The gate sits visibly lower on one end. That’s either a collapsed roller bearing or a hinge pin that has worn through its bushing. On a Linear slide gate, this puts the anti-lift brackets in a bind and stresses the operator’s drive chain.
- The gate wobbles side to side as it moves. The top guide rollers or the hinge leaves have developed play. That wobble is transferred straight into the Linear motor’s gearbox, and gearbox damage is a much bigger bill than a roller.
- You can lift the gate by hand and feel a clunk. That’s slop in the hinge pin or a roller wheel with play on its axle. A gate should lift or slide with no more than a quarter inch of free movement.
We don’t recommend running a gate with any of these symptoms for more than a few days. A failed roller on a 600-pound slide gate doesn’t just stop working; it side-loads the Linear operator, and that part is not cheap to replace.

The range depends on gate weight, how many rollers or hinges are involved, and whether we’re reusing the existing mounting points or drilling new ones. Every price we quote in Las Vegas includes the part, the labor, and the alignment of the gate after the swap. We give you the written price before any work starts, and that number does not change unless you ask us to do extra work while we’re there. The work is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the new roller or hinge fails within a year, we come back and make it right on our dime.
DIY or Call Us?
Slide gate rollers live under a gate that can weigh 400 to 800 pounds. The roller swap itself is straightforward for someone who has a jack, appropriate blocking, and the right-size tools, but the danger is in lifting the gate without a proper support plan. If the gate shifts while it’s supported on a car jack or a stack of lumber, it will come down on whatever is in the way, and that’s how people lose fingers. We’ve also seen the aftermath of a homeowner who changed a roller but didn’t re-align the gate, and the Linear operator’s gearbox failed about six weeks later. The $145 roller job became a $900 operator replacement.
The safe parts you can handle yourself: visually checking the wheels for flat spots, clearing debris out of the track, and noting which end of the gate sits lower. The rest, honestly, is worth a call. Tell us what it’s doing wrong, and we’ll tell you exactly what it costs to fix it. That’s not a slogan; it’s how Cole Rafferty runs every job. Call (725) 529-9468 and describe the symptom, and you’ll get a real number before we send anyone out.
FAQs
In Las Vegas, expect 5 to 8 years from a quality roller before the bearing starts to degrade. The dry climate helps keep rust down, but the fine dust and the summer heat both work against the bearing grease. A roller that lives under a gate facing west and catching afternoon sun will usually fail faster than one on the shaded side.
A roller with a dry bearing can sometimes be repacked with grease if it’s caught early, but if the wheel has a flat spot or the bearing has play in it, replacement is the only fix that will last. We’ll show you the old part and the new part side by side before we put anything back together. Call (725) 529-9468 for a straight answer on what yours needs.
Most single-roller and hinge replacements on a Linear gate in Las Vegas take 45 to 90 minutes on site. A full hinge set on a heavy gate may run closer to two hours, including alignment. We’ll give you a time window before we arrive, and we’ll tell you who’s coming by name and photo.
We carry the most common Linear-compatible roller sizes and hinge configurations on our Las Vegas service trucks every day. If your gate needs a less common size, we can usually have it in hand within two business days. We’ll tell you upfront whether it’s a same-day fix or a parts-order repair, before you commit to anything.
