Get your free estimateDoorKing Access Control Installation: The Las Vegas Owner’s Guide
DoorKing access control installation in Las Vegas typically runs $450 to $1,400 installed, depending on whether we’re wiring a new keypad, swapping a failed circuit board, or adding a telephone entry system to an existing gate. We stock DoorKing-compatible parts on our trucks and can usually have your system back online the same day in most of the Las Vegas valley. Most owners figure out something’s wrong when the keypad stops accepting codes, the gate opens for nobody, or the call box rings a phone that doesn’t exist anymore.
You’re not just buying a part. You’re buying the part that matches your exact DoorKing model, wired correctly, programmed to your existing codes, and tested before we leave. That’s what this page is about.
Which DoorKing Models This Applies To
DoorKing makes several access control lines, and they don’t all share parts. The 1812 series (the classic apartment and condo keypad) uses different circuit boards than the 1838 telephone entry system, and the MicroPLUS and MicroCLICK lines are a different animal entirely. If you’ve got an older 1803 or 1814, some parts are still available as OEM replacements, but certain boards have been discontinued and we match them with quality aftermarket equivalents that hold up in Las Vegas heat.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people miss: DoorKing keypads and telephone entry systems made before about 2015 often run on older firmware that won’t talk to newer plug-in modules. We’ve seen owners buy a new keypad on their own, wire it to a 10-year-old board, and nothing works. That’s why we check the model number and board revision before we quote anything. The model number is on a label inside the housing, usually on the circuit board itself or the inside of the cabinet door.
We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with DoorKing. But we install and repair their equipment daily, and we know which OEM parts are worth the money and where a quality aftermarket board makes more sense for an older system.

Signs Your DoorKing Access Control Installation Is Failing
- Keypad accepts some codes but not others. This usually points to a failing membrane keypad or corroded contacts on the board. Las Vegas dust gets into the housing and builds up on the contact pads over time.
- The gate opens on its own or won’t close. The relay on the circuit board is sticking. Relays wear out after years of cycling, especially in systems that see 50-plus opens a day, which is common in Vegas neighborhoods with short-term rentals.
- Call box rings but nobody can hear you. The telephone interface board has failed or the wiring between the call box and the house is degraded. Older DoorKing systems used direct phone line connections that don’t survive power surges well.
- Buttons light up but nothing happens. The board is getting power but not sending the open signal. This can be the relay, a blown fuse on the board, or a dead communication wire between the keypad and the gate operator.
- The display screen is unreadable or flickering. LCD screens on DoorKing entry systems cook in direct Las Vegas sun. We see darkened or distorted screens on south-facing keypads within five to seven years.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Las Vegas, installed DoorKing access control work breaks down like this:
- Keypad or card reader swap: $450 to $750 installed, depending on the model and whether we’re reusing existing wiring.
- Circuit board replacement: $500 to $900 installed, including reprogramming your existing codes and testing every entry point.
- Full telephone entry system replacement: $900 to $1,400 installed, including the call box, wiring verification, and programming for up to the number of residents or users your system supports.
- New access control installation on an existing gate: $700 to $1,200 depending on wire run distance, power availability, and whether we’re adding a keypad, card reader, or both.
Every quote is written and agreed to before we touch anything. The price you sign off on includes the part, the labor, programming, and testing. No surprise line items at the end. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise, so if something isn’t right, the return visit is free. That’s the deal we’ve offered since 2008, and it’s not changing.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things on your own: verify the breaker or disconnect for the gate operator is on, check if the keypad has power, and make sure no visible wires are chewed, pulled loose, or covered in corrosion. If the keypad is dead but the gate opens with the remote, that still tells us a lot when you call.
What you shouldn’t do is open the enclosure and start probing terminals. DoorKing control boards carry line voltage, and a wrong touch on the wrong terminal can fry the board, damage the transformer, or give you a shock. We’ve replaced boards in Las Vegas that died because someone poked around with a multimeter and shorted two terminals that looked harmless. If you’re not sure, call us at (725) 529-9468 and describe what’s happening. Cole’s rule: tell me what it’s doing wrong, and I’ll tell you exactly what it costs to fix it.
FAQs
Most DoorKing keypads and circuit boards last 8 to 12 years in Las Vegas, but sun exposure and dust cut that shorter on south-facing installations. We regularly replace boards and keypads at the 10-year mark in neighborhoods like Summerlin and Henderson. The good news is a board or keypad swap gets you another decade without replacing the whole gate operator. Call (725) 529-9468 and we’ll tell you honestly whether your system is worth repairing.
Sometimes, but it depends on what failed. If it’s a relay, yes, we can replace the relay in the field and keep your existing board running. If the board has burnt traces, water damage, or failed components across multiple circuits, a new board is the right call. We show you the damage before you approve anything. Call (725) 529-9468 with your model number and we’ll tell you what’s realistic.
Most DoorKing keypad, board, or telephone entry replacements take 2 to 4 hours, and we usually have the parts on the truck. A full new installation with new wiring runs can take half a day or a full day depending on distance and obstacles. We quote the time and the price before work starts, and we don’t leave until every code works and the gate opens and closes properly. Call (725) 529-9468 for a time estimate on your specific system.
Yes. Our Las Vegas trucks carry DoorKing circuit boards, keypads, card readers, relays, and telephone entry components. We also stock compatible parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls systems. If your part isn’t on the truck, we can typically source it same week through our suppliers. Call (725) 529-9468 and we’ll check stock while you’re on the phone.
If your DoorKing access control isn’t doing what it should, call (725) 529-9468 today. You’ll get a live person, a straight answer, and a written price before anyone touches your gate.
