We stock, install, and program Mighty Mule-compatible keypads and intercoms across Las Vegas, with most replacements running $180 to $380 installed depending on your model and wiring condition. Most jobs are same-day when we have your keypad or intercom on the truck, which we usually do for the common Mighty Mule series.
Here’s how owners typically find us: the keypad works sometimes, then not at all. Or the intercom buzzes but the voice is garbled. Or everything works from inside the house but the outside station went dead after a rainstorm. None of these are rare in Las Vegas. The heat, dust, and hard water here chew through outdoor electronics faster than anywhere else in the country. The good news: this is a focused repair, not a mystery. We know what fails first on Mighty Mule equipment, and we bring the parts before we ring your bell.
Which Mighty Mule Models This Applies To
Mighty Mule has shipped a lot of gate openers over the years, and not all keypads talk to all control boards. The main lines we service in Las Vegas are the MM series (MM271, MM371, MM571), the Mighty Mule 200, 350, 500, and 600 models, and the newer Smart Series (MMS100, MMS300). If you have a FM series (FM200, FM350), those parts are also on our replacement radar.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people don’t know: Mighty Mule switched wireless keypad protocols partway through the product line. An older wired keypad from a MM271 will not sync to a newer Smart Series board, and vice versa. We verify compatibility by checking the control board revision inside the opener, not just the model name on the keypad. Aftermarket keypads exist and some are fine, but the Mighty Mule boards are picky about frequency matching. We stock OEM Mighty Mule keypads and quality aftermarket units that we’ve tested on Las Vegas installs. We’ll tell you honestly whether OEM matters for your board or whether an aftermarket will do the same job for less.

Signs Your Mighty Mule Keypad & Intercom is Failing
- Keypad lights up but the gate won’t move. The keypad is still sending a signal, but the receiver side or the board relay is not responding. This is often a worn relay or a programming loss, not a dead keypad.
- Some buttons work, others don’t. Dirt, UV damage, and ozone cracking break down the membrane under the buttons. Las Vegas sun is brutal on outdoor plastic, and keypads facing west or south get it worst.
- Intermittent operation that gets worse when hot. Heat expands solder joints and flexes circuit boards. A keypad that works at 8 a.m. and dies at 3 p.m. in a Vegas summer is telling you the board is on its way out.
- Intercom hums or buzzes but voice is faint or distorted. Corrosion on the speaker terminals or a failing capacitor in the audio circuit. Dust intrusion is the usual first trigger here.
- No power at all after a storm. A power surge through the low-voltage side can take out the keypad, the intercom station, or the control board. We check all three before we quote anything.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Las Vegas, a Mighty Mule keypad replacement typically runs $180 to $280 installed. A combined keypad plus intercom unit runs $240 to $380. If you need only a new intercom speaker module or a wiring repair at the post, that’s usually $120 to $200. Every one of these prices includes the part and the labor.
What drives the range: whether we’re matching OEM or installing an aftermarket unit, how much wire we have to pull, and whether the existing housing can be reused. We give you the written price before any work starts. Not an estimate range you have to trust. The actual number. And if the repair fails within the year, the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers a free return visit. No fine print, no invoice surprise.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do this yourself: check the breaker for the gate opener, look for obvious wire damage at the keypad housing, and clean the keypad face with a dry cloth. That fixes maybe one in ten calls.
What you should not do is open the keypad housing and start probing connections, especially on a unit wired into the mainboard. Low-voltage DC can still short a board if you bridge the wrong two terminals, and a shorted board turns a $200 keypad job into a $600 board replacement. If the unit is wired into an intercom with a call button and a microphone, the wiring path is easy to damage inside the post. We’d rather walk you through it over the phone than have you touch a live connection. Call (725) 529-9468 and describe what it’s doing. Tell me what it’s doing wrong, and I’ll tell you exactly what it costs to fix it.
FAQs
Three to five years is typical for an outdoor keypad faced with Vegas sun and summer heat. Units mounted on east-facing posts or with partial shade can push seven years. Intercom modules tend to fail faster if they’re fully exposed to afternoon sun, usually inside four years.
Sometimes. If the buttons are erratic from a worn membrane, we can replace the face assembly on many models for less than a full unit. But if the board is corroded or the relay is cooked, a new keypad is cheaper and more reliable than a board-level repair. We’ll show you the condition and let you decide before any parts are ordered. Call (725) 529-9468 and we’ll tell you which side of the line your unit falls on.
A straightforward keypad swap on a Mighty Mule opener takes 45 to 90 minutes on site. If we’re also replacing wiring from the post to the control board, plan for up to two hours. We carry common Mighty Mule keypads and intercom modules on the truck, so most Las Vegas jobs are finished in one visit.
We stock Mighty Mule-compatible keypads, intercom station modules, and control boards for the MM, MMS, and FM series in our Las Vegas trucks. Most jobs are completed same day from truck stock. If your model needs an oddball part, we order it and return once it’s in hand, usually inside a few business days. We also service and stock parts for LiftMaster, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing openers.
If your Mighty Mule keypad or intercom is acting up, call (725) 529-9468. We’ll give you a written price before we touch anything, and you’ll know exactly who’s coming to your door before we arrive.
