DoorKing welding and fabrication in Las Vegas typically runs $220 – $480 installed, depending on whether we’re repairing an existing weld on a gate frame or fabricating a new bracket, hinge plate, or mounting saddle for your operator. We stock DoorKing-compatible weld-in parts on the truck and can usually complete most welding repairs the same day we diagnose them.
Most homeowners find out they need welding work the hard way. The gate starts dragging, or it makes a groan when it opens that wasn’t there last month. Sometimes the operator keeps running but the gate itself sags half an inch at the latch. Then you look closer and see it: a hairline crack running through the weld at the hinge, or the bracket that holds the DoorKing arm to the gate has torn loose from the post. That’s the moment to call. The longer a cracked weld stays under load, the more metal it takes with it when it finally lets go.
We’re an independent service company, not affiliated with DoorKing, but we work on their equipment every week across Las Vegas. And Cole Rafferty is particular about one thing: before we touch a welder, you know exactly what it costs. “Tell me what it’s doing wrong, and I’ll tell you exactly what it costs to fix it.”
Which DoorKing Models This Applies To
Welding and fabrication work comes up most on DoorKing swing gate operators, especially the 6000-series and 6500-series models, and on any DoorKing slide gate where the drive chain bracket gets welded to the gate frame. The 9150 and 9100 slide operators also have specific mounting requirements that sometimes call for a custom welded saddle when the existing post spacing doesn’t match the factory bolt pattern.
Here’s the DoorKing gotcha most people don’t know until it’s too late: the weld-in brackets for a 6000-series swing operator are sized for a specific post diameter. If your post is 4-inch schedule 40 steel, the stock bracket bolts on fine. If it’s 3-inch or 6-inch, or if the original installer mounted the operator at an odd angle, we’re fabricating an adapter plate. That’s where the welding comes in. You can’t just shim a gap that size and expect the operator to last a season.
We also see plenty of DoorKing gates where the original weld on the hinge was just never great to begin with. The gate’s been holding on for years, but Las Vegas heat plus daily cycling finally opened the crack up. In those cases, we grind out the old weld, repair the metal, and re-weld with the gate properly supported, not hanging halfway off its hinge.
On parts: for structural work, we prefer OEM DoorKing brackets where the operator geometry depends on exact hole placement. For non-mechanical, load-bearing repairs like a cracked post cap or a fence frame re-weld, a quality local fabrication job with the right steel holds up just as well and often costs less. We’ll show you the difference in writing before any work starts.

Signs Your DoorKing Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags toward the latch side when it’s open. A broken or failing weld at the top hinge lets the gate droop, and every cycle pulls the crack wider. The sag will keep getting worse until the gate stops latching properly.
- You can see a hairline crack at the base of a hinge or bracket. This is the earliest warning sign. Catch it before the metal tears completely and the repair is usually a clean grind-and-reweld instead of fabricating a replacement piece.
- The DoorKing operator arm moves but the gate hesitates or stutters partway through. When a weld loosens, the operator is fighting flex instead of moving a solid gate. That flex overloads the motor and shortens its life.
- The gate makes a metallic creak or pop at the same spot every cycle. That sound is two pieces of metal moving against each other where they shouldn’t be. It’s the weld joint flexing under load.
- The operator pulled away from its mounting post. On DoorKing swing gates, the operator is often welded to a plate on the post. When those welds fail, the whole unit can shift, throwing off the arm geometry and causing the gate to bind.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
You can expect to pay $220 – $480 for most DoorKing welding and fabrication in Las Vegas. A straightforward hinge re-weld runs toward the bottom of that range. Fabricating a custom bracket or adapter plate with new steel runs toward the top. If we have to remove the gate, haul it back to the shop, and re-hang it, the price goes up accordingly, but we’ll give you the number in writing before any work starts.
Every weld we do in Las Vegas gets cooling time, not just a quick pass and a “good luck.” Steel behaves differently when it’s 108° outside, and a rushed weld on hot metal cracks the same week. We factor that into the labor.
Here’s what’s included, always: an on-site quote you approve before we touch the welder, the removal of the failed or cracked material, proper fit-up with the gate supported, the weld work itself, and a written guarantee on the repair. If it fails within a year, we return and make it right at no cost under our 365-Day Done Right Promise.
DIY or Call Us?
What you can safely do yourself: take photos of the crack or the failed bracket, measure the width of the gate post and the height of the gate, and check your DoorKing model number on the operator’s label. That’s everything we need for a ballpark price over the phone.
What you should not attempt: welding on a gate that’s still hung and under tension. A gate frame under load can shift when the weld releases, and that’s how fingers get pinned and eyes catch sparks. Welding also requires a 220V circuit, a proper mask, and the right rod for the steel you’re working with. If any of that sentence made you pause, the welding itself isn’t the part to learn on. Call us at (725) 529-9468 and the written quote covers everything.
FAQs
A proper weld on a cleanly prepped surface will last 10 to 20 years on a Las Vegas gate. The failure you’re replacing usually started as a factory or original-install weld that didn’t penetrate fully. We grind, bevel, and weld for full fusion so the repair outlasts the original.
If your gate has cracked at the same weld more than once, call (725) 529-9468 and we’ll look at the underlying design problem, not just re-run the same bad weld.
Most cracked welds can be ground out and re-welded in place. Replacement is only necessary when the bracket itself is torn, bent, or fatigued beyond the point where welding would restore its strength. We’ll show you photos and explain the call before we cut anything.
Most single-point weld repairs take 60 to 90 minutes on site. A full bracket fabrication with fitting and cooling runs 2 to 3 hours. We’ll give you a time window when we schedule so you’re not stuck waiting around all day.
Yes. Our Las Vegas trucks carry common DoorKing weld-in brackets, hinge plates, and steel stock for on-the-spot fabrication. If your repair needs a part we don’t have, we’ll order it and give you a date before we leave.
