If you own an Elite gate and a weld has cracked or a bracket has torn loose, we stock the steel, hardware, and fabrication know-how to fix it. In Las Vegas, most Elite welding and fabrication repairs run between $180 and $650 installed, depending on whether it’s a cracked hinge weld, a bent gate leaf, or a full re-fabrication of the fork bracket. We keep steel stock, Elite-compatible brackets, and a mobile welder on the truck, so we can usually weld the repair on site the same day you call.
Most Las Vegas homeowners discover a failed weld the same way: the gate starts dragging on the ground, makes a sharp creak every time it opens, or the motor struggles and trips. That’s the sound of metal fatigue. Elite gates in this climate see extreme daily temperature swings from the summer heat to cool desert nights, and welds that were marginal from the start don’t stay marginal forever. They crack. The gate sags. And when it sags, every other part works harder until something else gives.
Warden Gate Repair Las Vegas is an independent gate repair company. We are not affiliated with Elite, but our technicians work on Elite equipment weekly and know exactly where these welds fail on the common residential models.
Which Elite Models This Applies To
The welding points that fail on Elite gates are consistent across the common residential slide and swing models, including the Elite SL-3000 series slide operators and the Elite SW series swing operators. The welds that break are almost never in the operator itself. They’re on the gate: the fork brackets that connect the swing arm to the gate leaf, the hinge posts that carry the weight, the slide track supports, and the receiver bracket that catches the gate when it closes.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners hit: the fork bracket on an Elite SW-4000 is not the same as the one on an SW-2000. The bolt pattern and the offset from the gate face are different, and a bracket that is half an inch off will make the gate bind and eventually stall the motor. We measure the existing bracket and match it to the exact Elite part number before we weld anything, because guessing here costs you a second service call.
For steel gate work, you don’t need OEM. Elite doesn’t sell the gate leaf itself, so the steel, hinges, and receiver brackets come from the fabricator. What matters is the material spec: we use hot-rolled steel and schedule 40 pipe, the same gauge and wall thickness the gate was originally built from. Thinner steel, like the stuff some handymen use to keep a quote low, bends in the first strong wind. In Las Vegas, the wind through the northwest valleys can hit 40 mph on a normal day. We’ve repaired plenty of gates that someone else “fixed” with sheet metal and wood screws.
If you still have the original Elite installation manual, the model number is printed on a sticker on the operator housing. If you don’t, we can identify the operator by the motor type and the drive arm geometry. It takes us about five minutes on site.

Signs Your Elite Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags toward the latch side. Most of the time this is a hinge weld that has cracked or is tearing away from the post. The gate leaf is heavy, and the weld was carrying all of it. When it fails, the gate drops a few inches and drags on the driveway. Left alone, the motor burns out from the added friction. We see this at least once a week in Las Vegas, usually on gates that face direct afternoon sun.
- A sharp creak or pop when the gate starts moving. That sound is metal on metal: a crack that opens and closes with each cycle. Once you hear it, the weld has already separated enough that the gate is flexing. Welding the crack closed now is a $200 job. Waiting until the bracket tears completely off with a car in the driveway is a different afternoon.
- The gate drifts or stops halfway open. On slide gates, a broken track support or a loose receiver bracket will make the gate bind and the motor stop. The operator’s torque limiter is doing its job, but the real problem is the steel underneath it. If the wheels are digging into the concrete, that’s the fabrication failing, not the motor.
- The swing arm bracket looks bent or the bolts are wallowed out. The fork bracket connects the Elite operator arm to the gate. When it bends, the arm fights the gate on every cycle. When the bolt holes elongate, the gate has play in it, and that play is what snaps the arm under load. This is one of the most common fabrication failures on Elite swing systems in Las Vegas.
- Visible rust bleeding from a weld joint. Rust means water is in the joint. Even a small crack lets moisture into the weld, and the desert dew alone is enough in the winter months. If you can see rust streaking from a hinge or bracket, the joint is already compromised and will need to be ground out and re-welded.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Las Vegas, here’s what Elite welding and fabrication work costs on most residential gates:
- Cracked hinge weld, grind and re-weld: $180 – $280
- Fork bracket replacement (Elite swing models): $220 – $380 installed
- Slide track support repair or replacement: $250 – $450
- Full re-fabrication of a bent gate leaf or receiver post: $400 – $650
The range comes down to three things: how much of the old steel needs to be cut out, whether we need to source an Elite-specific bracket or can fabricate an equivalent on site, and how much finish grinding and painting is required to blend the repair. You’ll get a written price before any work starts. No exceptions. The price we quote is the price you pay after we finish, agreed to before I strike an arc. Every welding and fabrication job is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the weld fails or the part gives out within the year, we return and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the straight answer on welding an Elite gate yourself. If you own a stick welder or a MIG setup, have welded outdoors before, and know how to disconnect the gate operator so it can’t cycle while you’re working, you can attempt a simple crack repair on an accessible hinge. But if the weld is on a fork bracket under tension, or you’re not sure which bracket your Elite model uses, stop there. A gate leaf that lets go while you’re under it weighs more than you can bench press, and swing gates store tension in the arm geometry even when the motor is off. We’ve seen a gate drop on a homeowner’s leg after a bracket failed mid-repair. That’s not a cautionary tale. That’s a Tuesday.
If you’d rather not be the one holding the grinder, call (725) 529-9468. Cole Rafferty will ask what the gate is doing, tell you what we think it’ll take, and give you a written number before the crew rolls out. As Cole says: “Tell me what it’s doing wrong, and I’ll tell you exactly what it costs to fix it.”
FAQs
A properly welded steel gate joint in Las Vegas lasts 10 to 15 years before it needs attention, but the factory welds on many mass-produced gates can fail in 5 to 7, especially on the hinge side that faces the afternoon sun. The extreme temperature swings across a single summer day are harder on weld joints than people expect. If the gate was welded on site by a competent fabricator using the right rod and the joint was properly cleaned, it should outlast the operator. If it was factory MIG welded without full penetration, it might not make it past year six. We know which joints on your Elite model are the weak points and we check them when we’re on site.
A clean crack in an accessible area can be ground out and re-welded, and that’s usually the $180 to $280 fix. If the bracket is bent, the bolt holes are wallowed, or the crack runs through a load-bearing point, we replace the part. We don’t weld a compromised bracket and hand it back to you, because it’ll fail again and a failed bracket under a moving gate is a safety issue, not just an inconvenience.
Most single-hinge or bracket repairs are done in two to three hours, including grinding, welding, cooling, and a cold chisel test on the joint before we leave. A full re-fabrication of a bent gate leaf or receiver post can take most of a day. We schedule the work with you in advance, roll up with the welder, steel, and the Elite-specific brackets on the truck, and finish the same visit in the majority of cases. You’ll know the plan and the price before we start.
We carry the common Elite fork brackets, receiver brackets, and hinge hardware on the truck, along with hot-rolled steel stock for fabrication work. You don’t need to source or order anything. If your gate needs a bracket we don’t have in the back, we order the exact Elite part number and come back when it arrives, usually within three to five business days in Las Vegas. We do not install customer-supplied parts; if it’s wrong, doing so would void the integrity of the repair and our 365-Day Done Right Promise, and we won’t do that to you.
